My Journey to Become a UFO Whistleblower (01 of 03)
Part One: Origins, Employment, Spillage
Origins, 1991-2015
I was born in 1991 in southern California, the eldest of four brothers. My upbringing instilled in me a deep love of nature, a commitment to defending the Constitution, and reverence for God. As a quiet and reserved child, I often struggled within the public education system. In 2009 I graduated high school and was greeted by the Great Recession, forever wars in the desert, and an education system that valued conformity over truth. Like many in my generation, I entered adulthood greeted by uncertainty and a lingering sense of hopelessness.
With few options and little sense of direction, I enrolled at the local community college. A career in national security was the last thing on my mind — my ambition was to break into the film industry. But my enduring love of history, and the guidance of one remarkable professor, set me on an entirely different course. At her urging I refocused my studies and worked with purpose to become an ideal candidate for the intelligence community. In 2015, I moved to Washington, D.C., ready at last to serve my country through a career in U.S. intelligence.
Employment, 2015-2018
My first real job in the national security enterprise was working as a contractor for the Department of Defense to combat the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Skeptical of the field at first – the lies that justified the 2003 Invasion of Iraq have not been forgotten – I stuck with it and quickly became enthralled. Finally, I could apply myself to real-world national security problems, and I was blessed to work in a unique office environment with a fantastic team. What began as a temporary role while awaiting final placement within an intelligence agency soon became a calling. The complexity of the work, the exceptional dedication of my colleagues, the tangible outcomes we achieved, the proximity to power, and the constant opportunity to explore the unknown proved irresistible. I committed myself fully to mastering this demanding yet underappreciated field.
The work location was a draw in itself: the Pentagon. Each day I rode the DC Metro, walked toward the symbolic heart of American military power, and joined thousands of fellow patriots dedicated to protecting our people and advancing our interests. I was part of a team doing good in the world, and I felt both honored and invigorated by the privilege of serving alongside them. For a lifelong history nerd, working inside what was once the largest office building in the world offered endless opportunities for discovery — whether in the legends shared by “greybeards” or along the museum-like corridors themselves. Time there moved in unusual ways, as both the distant past and the far future seemed to live in the present.
My first direct exposure to the reality of unidentified anomalous phenomena — and to the seriousness with which they are regarded by the national security state — came in 2018. My clearances had barely come online when I began reviewing videos, reports, telemetry, and other data from UAP encounters documented by the U.S. military and intelligence community. The longstanding association between nuclear weapons and UAP offered a compelling justification for deeper “official” inquiry, and I closely tracked the emerging UAP community within the DoD and IC. The sense at the time was one of optimism, mystery, and what seemed like momentum towards official (albeit internal) disclosure.
Spillage, 2018-2021
One day I was “voluntold” to perform archive duty, which is how I came across what is now known as the Immaculate Constellation Briefing. Written for a senior leadership audience, it provided a matter-of-fact overview of a global intelligence collection mission focused on UAP, along with the UAP-related activities of our adversaries. While startling in some respects, the briefing primarily filled in gaps of my existing knowledge. UAP were clearly real, definitely global, ambiguous in intent, and seemingly indifferent to earthly laws and borders. It made perfect sense for the Department of Defense and the U.S. intelligence community to maintain secret programs devoted to such a threat. What struck me most was the tenor: there was no mystique here, only straightforward recounting and analysis of then-recent UAP collection events. This was clear evidence that there existed a divide between the general TS/SCI community, and select elements operating “behind the green door.”
Reporting the improper handling and storage of this document – which originated from an Unacknowledged Special Access Program – confirmed these suspicions. Every step of the process was anomalous and not in keeping with official procedures. This was partly by design; my decision to self-report offered an opportunity to learn more about UAP through “the process” itself. The strange and evasive behavior of several senior leaders I encountered along the way only reinforced my sense that there was real fire behind the smoke. Still, I bided my time, preferring to watch and learn while bigger fish swam upstream.
The question was no longer whether UAP were real, but what they were, where they came from, what they wanted — and why so much of the truth remained locked away from humanity. It was evident that the full picture was reserved for a small, privileged caste; the rest of us are expected to remain ignorant. From that point on, I examined every project, conversation, and document for what might be hidden in plain sight. Through a laborious application of via negativa, each new fragment of evidence uncovered in DoD and IC archives stripped away alternative explanations until only the truly anomalous remained. By 2021, I was convinced not only of the reality of “UFOs” and “Aliens,” but also of the existence of an official cover-up going back decades. I had no idea I would experience firsthand just how grim the reality truly was.
